Permits from your local building authority are usually required for Basement Window Installation. Verify requirements with your local building department before any Basement Window Installation work begins

The following are required for a new egress window project: Permit , Inspection, Zoning Check and Site Plan, Construction plan review

  • Homeowners can perform work on their own properties without a contractor. For storm windows, storm doors, and most repairs to windows, see A building permit is not required.

Emergency Egress code requirements:

  • All bedrooms shall have at least one window that meets the following requirements:

  • Minimum net clear opening height of 24”.
